The Mississippi Queen in Southern Drinks

This soft drink was bottled and sold first in Biloxi, Mississippi, in 1897 by Edward Charles Edmond Barq, who was bron in the Vieux Carre District of New Orleans in 1871.  Barq's had more 'bite', due to a higher carbonation and lower sugar content than other root beers.  In 1931, the first clear 12 ounce glass bottle was introduced, which is still sold today in the South and by far, Barq's Root Beer is the best when it is n a glass bottle.
